Phillies WIN the World Series!! Brotherly Love Abounds!!

The City of Brotherly Love and her Champions!!

Allow me to share the magic that was flowing throughout the city of Brotherly Love last night as the Philadelphia Phillie's
WON the World Series Championship.

My Brother Kevin and I both shared the sensation that we had to be present when the Phillies closed this Major League Deal!!

We set off for the game 3 hours early and quickly found that we were not alone in our pursuit to gain entry into this night's most coveted address, Citizen's Park. There were zero tickets to be found save the $500 each that "Joe the scalper" tried to unload on us....ah, no thanks. Rolling the dice for a grand to see if the tickets were fake was not a journey we were going "to be taken!"

So, my awesome Brother gets a great idea. Since we have a couple hours, let's go see the season opener of the Sixer's game 1000 feet away and when it's over we'll see if we were meant to "get-in" to the W.S. or not.

Ok, next we mosey on over to the Wachovia Center to watch the season opener for the 76'ers We witnessed Elton Brand's first Basket as a 76'er and enjoyed one hellava great brisket sandwich avec horse radish and hot peppers!! Ya Baby!!...or is it YO Baby? Building momentum .... ok, the 76'ers lay an egg after a great start but we had a blast anyway and stayed nice and toasty having it!

Now, here is the comic section...the basket ball game ended right when the base ball game began so our plan was to check out the ticket situation and if still bleak, we would return with our ticket stub for re-entry to the restaurant in the Wachovia Center that was peppered with Plasma screens wall to wall while still being in the orbit of the action...EXCEPT.after there still were no tickets to be had.."say it ain't so Joe" at the door was not letting anyone back in as too many people stayed and they were "over capacity" according to the invisible fire Marshal Bill.

So, we the forgotten, the disenfranchised had perhaps reached that base of understanding just how the Phillies must have been feeling that very moment....all except for the part that they were in the middle of showing the world that it was finally their time to shine after a long drought and we were just a bunch of schmucks locked outside a bar craving a draft.

Outside we banded together and through the looking glass we saw the future unfold as excitingly as we dared imagine....except for the being locked out of the bar part..(LWW!!-I just invented that. It means Laughing While Writing)

Then with just 1 strike to go.......BOOM! 28 years of Underdog status EXPLODES into Triumph! The Crowd Goes Nuts!! no, strike that...THE CITY GOES NUTS!!!

The videos might capture some of the essence of the Electricity that was bolting through everyone at lightning speed a thread that bound us all as one for that moment, but I will never forget the feeling of actually being there!!!

I started out at the end video first because I wanted to set the tone of excellence, which was the theme of the night, by showing my Brother Kevin. He quickly but profoundly answers my question to him: "Kevin, what does this moment mean to you?"

In this answer I am sure you too will see his heart revealing his humanity. He is a quiet Tiger. No, I do not mean that since we were born Tigers in Detroit that he also quietly roots for the Tigers,even though he and I still do. What I mean is he has a super human strength that won him the Golden Glove Trophy at age 19 that he rarely mentions and has helped him excel in EVERY count them, EVERY sport that he has taken up. People still watch him play and say out loud, how'd he do that? He has that quiet strength that told me when I thought about "hot dogging" in the end zone after a touch down to "act as though I had been there before" The strength to look for the Good and the God in everyone.

The restaurant that he owns Nage has the lowest employee turn over in the nation due mostly to the loyalty that has been fostered by the Family feeling they get from him being the salt of the Earth and from the hand up and repect that he extends to all in his employ. Not to mention the food is beyond superb!!

How did this segue into a Blog about my Brotherly Love? I'll tell you! My adopted City of Brotherly Love created the perfect backdrop to finally showcase my Brother Kevin as the World Champion that he truly is! Thank you Kevin for being such an amazing person. I feel tremendously gifted to have you as my Brother!
